DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE is a generic term used to describe bodywork which goes below superficial connective tissue with the intend of breaking up old structural patterns and allowing the free flow of nutrients and oxygen in the blood. This type of massage is performed to eliminate knots, locked up areas, and to free up congestion of the muscle attachments.
Deep Tissue Massage requires the application of a considerable amount of pressure by the therapist which in some cases may cause some discomfort.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
TRIGGER POINTS, also known as MYOFASCIAL TRIGGER POINTS, are areas of hyperirritability in the soft tissue structure usually manifesting as a nodule within a taut muscle band. They control the state of contraction and active ones may cause muscle spasm and referred pain.
A Trigger Point can be acute and therefore painful or latent and will only be noticed by the client as soon as the therapist applies pressure onto the area.
A firm digital pressure is applied by the practitioner, who is able to locate the specific points causing pain and restricted movement which may often be located in places different to where the client actually feels the pain.
BENEFITS
